The business was originally formed in 1980 in Napier, New Zealand by brothers Jim, John and Pat Benson, as a software and services vendor of finance and line of business systems. Over the next 30 odd years the business continued to grow, establishing itself as the market leading provider of finance and administration systems to the New Zealand Local Government market.
In 2011, the business observed a major technology change was underway and an exciting new era was approaching – the era of digital transformation. The business decided to catch the digital wave and embarked on a significant product transformation journey to deliver the MAGIQ Cloud Platform.
In 2015, the business made two exciting business acquisitions in line with its product strategy to deliver an enterprise-wide public administration software platform. The business acquired Chameleon Technology a market-leading supplier of budgeting, reporting and planning software. Shortly after, the business acquired infoXpert a market-leading supplier of document and records management software.
